14.3 Student Preview

With student preview, teachers can review the course content from a student's perspective. Teachers can also validate course behaviors. For example, to review the conditional release of content and how grades appear.

While in student preview, teachers can do the following student activities:

• Submit assignments
• Take tests
• Download and upload files
• Participate in conversations
• Participate in discussions and journals
• Send course messages
• View grades as a student
• Experience group membership

Note Teachers cannot use Student Preview or make other changes in a completed course.

• 14.3.2 Exit Preview :

  Teachers can return to the normal view (i.e. teacher’s view) any time. When exiting the Student Preview, teachers can choose "Save / Discard Student Preview User and its data".

  

  

  • Save Student Preview User and its data :
    After saving the Student Preview, the preview user appears in the roster that visible to all students enrolled in the course. Everyone can identify the preview user by the name, the last name is teacher’s last name appended with _PreviewUser. The username is teacher’s username appended with _previewuser.
    As a preview user, all that activities are captured by Blackboard Learn. The preview user activity isn't included in analytics and course reports. Other students can interact with the preview user.
  • Discard Student Preview User and its data :
    The discard option removes the preview user and data from these areas:
    • roster
    • gradebook
    • gradebook filter
    • messages
    • messages recipient
    • discussions
    • journals
    • conversations
