13.5Group Mode

The group mode defined at the course level is the default mode (i.e. "No groups") for all activities defined within that course. Each activity that supports groups can also have its own group mode defined.

Note Starting from 2020/21 Sem 2, existing teaching groups created by the system in the "Centralized Group" will be Classes instead of Individual Tutorial Groups. For example:

13.5.1 Using "Group Mode" in "Moodle Assignments" and "Turnitin Assignments"

Group Mode = "Seperate group" : Filtering students' submission records by different groups for checking submission summary and downloading submitted files. The group "All participants" is containing all the students in the course.

Enable "Seperate groups"

1 On the Course Page with "Turn editing on", click "Edit" of the corresponding assignment link.

2 Choose "Edit settings".

3 Go to Common module settings, set the "Group mode" be "Separate groups".

4 Press the "Save and display" button to save the change.

5 On the Assignment Summary page, choose one group for filtering the submission records.

 


 

13.5.2 Using "Group Mode" in "News and Annoucements" and "Forum"

Group Mode = "Seperate group" : when postting message to the "News and Annoucements" and "Forum", only students in the particular group are able to view the posts. The group "All participants" is containing all the students and staff in the course.
